So... What do I think?

As a public broadcaster, the ABC must meet strict guidelines set by the Australian government, which are outlined in the Charter of the Corporation of the Australian Broadcasting Act 1983. These structures affect the content and structures of the ABC.

 

While the ABC is accountable to the Australian government and can sometime be seen as “elitist”, it can also be seen as an alternative to commercial media, by offering more educational and factual content. This has given ABC1 in particular the reputation of being a trustworthy broadcaster, specialising in superior news coverage.
